Are You Unhappy With Your Square Jawline? Botox May Be A Solution

Do you wake up in the morning, look in the mirror, and wish that your face wasn’t so round or chubby looking?

Or maybe you just wish that your jawline was less square and more slender and feminine looking, but believe that the only way to achieve your desired look is to spend thousands of dollars on painful, permanent, and unpredictable plastic surgery procedures.

What a lot of people don’t realize is that there is an alternative to plastic surgery, which is substantially less expensive, not painful and not permanent – just in case you aren’t happy with the results.

Botox, when injected into the masseter muscles (muscles which are located on both sides of your face, in the area where your jaw bone bends at a about a 115° degree angle) has been shown to give the face a longer, less chubby and more feminine, less square jaw line.

People with rounder or chubbier faces and square jawlines tend to have stronger, tighter, bulkier, more muscular masseter muscles. This generally leads to them sticking out further, leading to the appearance of a very squared looking jawline, rather than a slender, longer, oval, more feminine jawline.

Injecting Botox into the masseter muscles allows them to relax, and over a period of a few weeks, decrease in size, thus leaving the face longer and more oval looking. These results may need to be touched up after a few weeks.

Studies conclude that the Botox injections into the masseter muscles generally last between 6-and-12 months, so if for whatever reason you aren’t happy with them, your face will look as it does now in less than a year. Altura’s doctors advise you to consult with them every four months in order to maintain their desired look.

Reasons For Having A Square Jawline

• Enlarged masseter muscles

• Asymmetric chewing due to dental problems

• Temporomandibular joint dysfunction (also known as TMJ)

• Genetics - Asians are more likely to have enlarged masseter muscles

• Diet - foods which are tougher to chew, such as, meats and nuts can lead to larger, masseter muscles

• Personal habits - jaw clenching/grinding, bruxism, gum chewing

The Procedure – Botox For A Slender Jawline

The procedure in which Botox is used to re-shape a person’s jawline from a square, rounded face jawline, to an oval, more feminine jawline is rather quick, simple and painless. The doctor will inject each of the masseter muscles three times (a total of 6 injections). For each injection, 5-to-15 units of Botox are used, with the total amount of Botox used for the procedure being between 30 and 90 units.
