12 Things To Know About Lip Injections

Are you thinking about getting fuller, lusher, plumper lips? Before you book your FREE consultation with Altura Aesthetics, we thought we’d answer a few common questions that come up during lip enhancement consultations.

1- What is Revanesse Kiss?

Revanesse Kiss is a Canadian lip filler product, which is made with hyaluronic acid (HA) – a carbohydrate that is found in the body naturally. Our doctors prefer this product because it is easy to work with, lasts longer than most cosmetic fillers and looks more natural.

2- If I don’t like the way my lips turn out, am I stuck with them?

You can completely erase Revanesse Kiss if you don't like how your lips turn out. Because Revanesse Kiss is not permanent, our doctors can inject an eraser enzyme that will dissolve the filler almost instantly, giving you your original lips back.

3- How much do lip injections cost?

This is one of the more common questions we get and the answer always varies depending on the person – it’s always best to come get a free consultation so that our experts can give you a more accurate estimate. We do lip injections in half and full syringes, so cost depends on how much fuller you want your lips to look. Here are our prices, but we do have a special if you book before Dec. 31, 2016, where we are offering $75 dollars off half syringes and $150 dollars off full syringes.

4- How long does Revanesse Kiss lip filler last?

Everyone metabolizes Revanesse Kiss a little differently, but generally our lip fillers last 10-14 months, depending on the person. Our doctors often tell patients to come back for a touch up appointment at around every six-to-eight months.

5- Will I notice my lips being fuller immediately?

Yes, you will notice a difference right away. Generally it takes 24-48 hours for the swelling to go down, but once that happens your lips will look fuller and you should notice a difference.

6- Will my lips feel any different? Will people know when I kiss them?

Lips that have been enhanced with Revanesse Kiss don’t feel any different to the touch – although on occasion they have been known to stop traffic. While we have had customers tell us their partner loved the way they feel when they kiss, your lips won’t feel different than lips without lip injections. People will not know you’ve had your lips enhanced unless you tell them.

7- Do lip injections hurt?

The lips are a fairly sensitive area and because of that we use a numbing cream before we begin the injections. This cream numbs the area so that the customer feels little to no pain during the procedure – think of it as how the dentist numbs your mouth before drilling. Once numb, you may feel a small prick and a bit of pain as the filler is injected. Afterwards, the doctor will massage you lips and apply ice for 10 minutes to help with the swelling.

After the procedure your lips may be sore, swollen or bruised for three-to-five days, so make sure to ice your lips regularly and take an over the counter pain medication for any pain. Any minor discomfort should go away in a few days. Please consult our doctors if you have any post-procedure worries.

8- How long does a lip injection procedure take?

Generally, you’re in and out in about 30 minutes. It takes about 10 minutes to numb your lips before the procedure. About 10 minutes to inject the Revanesse Kiss lip filler. And then about 10 minutes to ice your lips afterwards to make sure your lips don’t swell or bruise too much. You can go about your daily life afterward, but you shouldn't make any big plans (like a wedding, a hot date or an important event) for at least three days afterwards just in case you bruise. Our recommendation is doing the procedure on the weekend, then relaxing all weekend with Netflix.

9- What do I need to do to prepare before the procedure?

We recommend doing the following things before your procedure:

·         No exercise on the day of your procedure

·         No massages or facials for 72 hours before your procedure

·         No alcohol for 72 hours before your procedure

·         Limit consuming pain killers, Omega 3 fatty acids, ginger, ginseng, St. John’s Wart and               garlic for 72 hours before your procedure

10- What if I don’t want giant lips, but rather a subtle change to enhance what I already have?

With lip injections you don’t need to go all out – in fact, most of our customers just get a little bit here and there. Our doctors work with you to determine what would suit your face and lifestyle the best, whether it be doing both lips, just the bottom lip, or the middle of the top lip, you can plump wherever you want to best complement your facial features.

11- Will one procedure make my lips look like Kylie Jenner or Angelina Jolie?

Don't expect to get lips like Kylie Jenner or Angelina Jolie after one procedure. Often, lips take time and multiple procedures to build up natural looking, lush, plump lips. We recommend bringing photos to the free consultation and our doctors will work with you to give you an accurate time frame and cost for achieving your desired look. Our doctors will also make recommendations of if that look is right for your face.

12- What happens if I decide to stop getting lip injections?

If you decide to stop getting lip injections your lips will return to looking like your original lips. With Revanesse Kiss, your lips will gradually shrink to their natural state over the period od 10-14 months –you don’t need worry about waking up with a different face one morning either. Your lips won’t look saggy, wrinkly or flat.
